Audio: Two conversations on autism

ASN

This audio excerpt has two interviews: First, Val talks about how she was diagnosed with autism at 40 years old. She details some of the sensory issues she has and – as a mother who also has a child with autism – her recommendations for self advocacy. Next, we hear from the mother of 12-year old Ellie. Her mother talks of some of the challenges she has faced and her observations on social interaction and how her daughter has taught her to re-think some of the ways she interacts socially.
